What is a team?
A team is any group of coworkers, fellow students, religious/civic organization members, friends, or family members who pre-register, raise money, and walk together on the day of Walk MS. They can have anywhere from 6 to 600 members. We provide materials, activities, prizes and staff who are available to help when you need it. Your role is to recruit, inspire, and motivate people to join the movement as well as raise funds. Have more fun and raise more money! Crossing the finish line with your co-workers, friends, or family makes the event even more memorable.

How do you start a team?

Register here (link). Register first as a team captain and choose a name for your corporate or friends and family team. Log in to your Participant Center to send the ready-made emails to everyone you know asking them to join. The more people, the merrier!

Fundraise!
How can Walk MS staff assist team captains?
Your Walk MS Staff is here to help you build your team, fundraise, and have fun! The staff can provide information about the Society, how to hold a fundraiser, and help you set team goals and work towards them. Email walkMS@cal.nmss.org with your question or request for assistance.
Can I join a team that’s already formed?
Yes! We have a Young Professionals team for anyone under 35 and Team In Motion which is open to everyone. By joining a team you can meet others with a connection to Multiple Sclerosis and the passion to join the movement to create a world free of MS.
How many people are on a team?
An official team is any team with 6 or more members. Official teams can qualify for a wide variety of Elite Team prizes for fundraising. Teams can be as small as 6 or as large as 600!
Are there any fundraising and team building tools I can use?
Absolutely! To request brochures, posters, or trading cards send an email to walkMS@cal.nmss.org with the amount you would like mailed to you. For more information on teams, click here:
How do I get my company involved?
Thousands of companies join the MS movement each year by participating in Walk MS events across the nation. Learn how your company can get involved and how you and your company will benefit from participating in Walk MS. Go here for more information on corporate teams.
What is a Lunch N Learn?
Do you have a corporate team or do you want to recruit more people from your office? Let us know and we’ll come prepared with information from The National MS Society and Walk MS, lunch for your colleagues and easy on the spot Walk MS registration. It doesn’t get any easier. Are there any training events before the Walk for team captains?
Yes! We have a team captain rally every month from January- March. Check our calendar here for additional information for your area. There are also walks departing from local athletic stores. Go here to find one closest to you and your team!
